Job Description

The successful candidate will manage the Production Department, overseeing the organisation and execution of finished product manufacturing. This role carries responsibility for the smooth operation of the production plant, the quality of output, and the day-to-day management of the Production team.

Key Responsibilities / Duties

  • Follow all company health & safety policies and procedures.
  • Manage the Production team, ensuring full compliance with health & safety policies.
  • Ensure production follows all agreed processes and standards to achieve consistent quality.
  • Maintain agreed hygiene standards in the manufacturing environment (ensure Audit Ready Status and operate to sound GMP standards).
  • Schedule labour to optimise production outputs within agreed budgetary constraints.
  • Organise production to maximise plan attainment, yields, and service level targets for our customer base.
  • Manage the production team and evaluate the performance of all personnel reporting to you; agree on further actions as necessary and carry out PDRs (annual appraisals).
  • Ensure all production colleagues are appropriately recruited, trained, and developed, with deputising cover for all key roles across the shift pattern (monitor holidays, sickness, and absence across the department).
  • Develop a culture of “right first time”.
  • Liaise with other departments, including Technical, Warehouse, Planning, Process, and Engineering, to ensure the smooth running of the production department.
  • Complete production/KPI reports and highlight any areas of concern as they arise; develop solutions and improvements as necessary for key production indicators.
  • Carry out ad hoc administrative duties.

Experience / Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years’ experience in FMCG manufacturing management to world-class standards.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience managing a small team.
  • Understanding of Change Management (culture and ways of working).
  • Knowledge of health & safety (IOSH trained) and Quality Standards required in a manufacturing environment (member of the HACCP team).
  • Experience in performance evaluation and training.
  • Experience reporting Key Performance Indicators for manufacturing.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing (Belt Qualification preferable).
