Maguire & Patterson was established in Dublin in 1882 as a match manufacturing company.

In 1987, the company was bought by Swedish Match, a global match, cigar and smoking accessories company. In December 2005, the SHS Group bought the Irish subsidiary, which became M & P Sales & Marketing (M & P) in April 2006.

The company distributes products in four distinct areas: household, over the counters medicines (O.T.C’s), personal care and beverages. M & P cover a number of trading channels including multiple, convenience, wholesale and pharmacy.
